MAC Volunteers

The Mairangi Arts Centre has a great team of volunteers who are an integral part of the centre. Our volunteers contribute enormously by:

Assisting with exhibitions
Staffing the reception
Assisting with exhibition openings and events
Administration
School Holiday assistance and so much more.

Mairangi Arts Garden

Mairangi Arts Garden (MAG) is situated right above our main facilities and is maintained and managed by volunteers. We hold regular working bees and always welcome those that are keen to offer a helping hand. You can follow us here on MAG Facebook page for the latest updates and next working bee.

We are closed tomorrow 25th April in remembrance of Anzac Day. We will reopen on Friday the 26th and resume our normal hours on the weekend.

Sneak 👀 into the Pop Up! Cash & Carry Art exhibition opening tomorrow at 12PM. There are currently 40 participating artists with over 100 artworks on sale. 100% of artwork sales goes to artists, so be sure to check out their reasonable prices!

Students in Wednesday Brush & Beyond with tutor Xinli Deng created these stunning masterpieces for the end of term 1 👀 This was Xinli’s first class at MAC and we look forward to Term 2 as he continues to inspire young minds through his independent creative art classes for children. With a curriculum that covers sketching, acrylic painting, crafting and mixed media, Xinli aims to not only teach techniques but also guide each student in developing their own artistic language, unique style, and creative themes. This class is a bilingual class as Xinli speaks both Chinese & English. Online booking for Term 2 can be done through our profile link 🎨

Huge thanks to the talented members of the @embroiderynorthshore_nz /North Shore Embroidery Guild for sharing their expertise in European stitching techniques and showing our attendees how to breathe new life into their clothing through upcycling. It was a truly inspiring and creative experience for all involved! 🎨👗

On March 23rd, two Chinese Paper Cutting Mindfully Handmade Workshops were held by Family Growth & Thrive Charitable Trust at our Centre.

Under the guidance of Tutor Kim, participants gained insight into the cultural background of Chinese paper cutting. We shared how traditional Chinese paper cutting, especially during the Chinese New Year, is an integral part of the festivities for Chinese families.

Participants had the opportunity to experience two forms of paper cutting designs (based on triangles and squares). Each individual actively participated, experiencing the beauty of different cultures through the art of paper cutting. Thank you Kim & Wenmiao for providing this cultural experience ✂️
