For Parents & Caretakers of Children Attending Classes

TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY

You must advise us of any medical conditions and/or special learning needs prior to the first class (09 478 2237 or info@mairangiarts.co.nz). This will allow the tutor to provide the best learning environment for your child. All such information will remain confidential with staff and tutor. Enrolments for children with special learning needs will be assessed on a case by case basis and will require an adult to attend class as support for the child.

Sign In/Out Procedure

Students under the age of fourteen (14) must arrive at the stated times for their class, accompanied by a caregiver who is required to sign them in with a signature. Caregivers must collect students from the studios and sign them out after each class. Students will not be permitted to leave the studio without a caregiver present. You must inform the tutor anytime someone other than the registered caregivers will be collecting the child. The centre will not be held responsible for the safety of children who arrive early at class and are left unattended by caregivers.

Uncollected Students

If no-one has arrived to collect a child at the end of class, the tutor will attempt to contact parents/caregivers and the alternative contact person using the emergency details supplied at time of enrolment.

30 minutes after the end of class, if no-one has arrived to collect the child and the tutor has been unable to contact anyone after multiple attempts, they are obligated to  report the situation to police.

Mairangi Arts Centre reserves the right to exclude from the programme children who are repeatedly collected late.

Disruptive Behaviour

Management reserve the right to exclude from the programme any student who is disruptive, does not adhere to the programme rules or poses a significant risk to the safety of themselves or others. The tutor reserves the right to contact and request caregivers to collect students displaying disruptive behaviour during class. Mairangi Arts Centre will strive to be fair and consistent.

Accidents and Emergencies

Parents will be contacted immediately, and staff will perform appropriate first aid and if necessary call an ambulance. Any urgent medical attention will be at the parents’ cost. Children will not be transported by private vehicles unless there is a serious emergency e.g. the need to evacuate due to tsunami, earthquake.

If you have any comments or concerns about the programme, please speak to the tutor in the first instance.

Last year, we were privileged to host two international Friendship concerts in conjunction with the World Choir Games. These amazing performances including this snippet from Germany’s choir, Sängerkreis Hildburghausen, left us spellbound.
This year, we are excited to offer our gallery for hire to choir groups seeking an ideal acoustic environment. The vaulted ceilings within the space create a rich and resonant sound that will elevate your rehearsals and performances. Ready to make some beautiful music? Email us at info@mairangiarts.co.nz to get started 🎶
