A multicultural festival that celebrates the vibrancy of all cultures in Tāmaki Makaurau will take place from 21 March – 14 April called World of Culture.
As part of these festivities, MAC invites you to participate in our workshop series, Mindfully Handmade. These workshops offer different cultural approaches towards being mindful and resourceful by making things by hand.
Connect to Māori tradition through Raranga weaving as we make Pāraerae, Māori sandals. Attend a Korean art exhibition opening to explore the intricacies of photographic printing on handmade mulberry paper. Experience two different approaches to transforming paper into art: from the treasured traditional Chinese art of Jianzhi or papercutting, to the Japanese tradition of Origami or paper folding. Have a go to embellish or upcycle your op shop clothes with simple European techniques toward embroidery stitches.
