My Culture, My Family, Myself: Youth Art Exhibition
My Culture, My Family, Myself is a family oriented art exhibition showcasing artworks by young artists. Children aged 5 to 14 years old in select classes of our art holiday programme will be introduced to this self-reflective theme and have the opportunity to create art to be exhibited. These works will showcase the diversity of our community and provide inspiration for visitors to also engage and share their creations in an interactive installation as well as participating in inter-generational and parent and child workshops.
Free Art Workshops
Inspired by the exhibition, these free workshops allow participants to create their own art to take home or add to the exhibition. This is a great opportunity for whanau and freinds to share their stories about their culture, traditions and themselves through art. These workshops are led by artist and MAC tutor, Cath O'Brien.
"As a facilitator I have learnt to step out of the way of a child's creative process and to step in to provide support when the opportunity arises. I work alongside the artists to develop a concept within a flexible framework that acts as a doorway into the creative process," says Cath. Join us for such an experience to express and celebrate who we are and where we come from.
Please note, this is not a drop off programme, caregivers are to stay and enjoy the creative experience! Spaces are limited, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to participate.
