Mairangi Arts Centre is proud to host the 8th Hibiscus and Bays Art Awards, in collaboration with Auckland Council HIbiscus and Bays Local Board and Estuary Arts Centre.This is a nation-wide exhibition and entries are open to all New Zealand residents. 

Prizes include:

3 x Outstanding Artists Awards each receive $1000 monetary prize plus the opportunity to exhibit at Mairangi Arts Centre together in 2022.

1 x 2D Merit Award- $250 Factory Frames voucher

1 x 3D Merit Award- $200 CCG voucher

1 x Open Merit Award- $200 Gordon Harris voucher

1 x People's Choice Award- $100 MAC voucher

This year's judge is Warrick Brown. One-time lawyer, Warwick has been collecting and writing about art for over 40 years. He co-founded NZ’s first art collecting co-operative in 1976, the prototype for many subsequent such co-ops.  He has been a director of Art New Zealand magazine, the art columnist for the Dominion Sunday Times and House and Garden magazine, an occasional lecturer, manager of an art auction house and two dealer galleries. In addition to numerous articles and catalogue notes, he has written four successful books on NZ art, the most recent being Seen This Century (Godwit, 2009). He has judged numerous art competitions over the years, including co-judging the Wallace Awards three times, and was awarded an MNZM for services to the arts in 2013. enter here
