Mairangi Arts Centre is calling for entries from artists working in all media for the prestigious Hibiscus & Bays Art Awards.
This annual awards exhibition, sponsored & proudly supported by Auckland Council’s Hibiscus & Bays Local Board, celebrates artistic and creative
practices in New Zealand.
Exhibitors will be selected by a panel of respected arts professionals. Their work will be on display in the 12th Hibiscus & Bays Arts Awards from the 23 May – 13 June 2026.
Prizes Include:
3 x Outstanding Artists Awards each receive $1000 monetary prize plus the opportunity to exhibit at Mairangi Arts Centre together in 2027.
1 x Factory Frames 2D Merit Award- $250 Factory Frames voucher
1 x 3D Merit Award- TBC
1 x Gordon Harris Open Merit Award- $200 Gordon Harris voucher
1 x MAC People’s Choice Award- $100 MAC voucher
1 x Te Herenga Waka o Orewa Māori Art Award – $500
1x Kiwi Underglaze Best Use of Colour Award – Full Set of 50 x 100ml underglazes by Kiwi Underglaze ($650 retail value)
1 x 21 years old & Under Merit Award: receives a MAC Art Basket and an exhibition opportunity in our MAC Artspace

At our recent AGM, we celebrated the contributions of our departing trustees. We extend a heartfelt thank you to Chair Chris Cooper, who completes a six-year tenure. Chris provided pivotal leadership through the COVID lockdowns and was the driving force behind the success of our community garden. We also share our sincere appreciation for Karen Gardiner, who finishes her term this year after six years of dedicated service to the board and our community initiatives.
