This workshop will draw inspiration from the fantastic insect world. The children will invent their personal insect, assembling different parts (wings, eyes, legs, horns, exoskeleton) to invent an imaginary fantastic insect.
In this interactive workshop we will use a variety of techniques, mediums, materials and found objects to explore the sights, sound and textures of dramatic stormy weather and the beauty of rainbow that follows.
I feel the earth move under my feet. I feel the sky tumbling down. In reality, there are patches of plastic existing as giant islands of floating garbage called microplastics travelling around in our ocean. We invite all junior engineers to join our recycling plan to create a recycling island.
In this fun workshop we will use the sewing machine, hand sewing techniques, amazing recycled fabrics, ribbons, buttons and more to create an amazing wall hanging of NZ trees, flowers, birds and insects.
Let's create a magical galaxy or a nebula with watercolour. Learn modern watercolour techniques while you paint your hypnotising galaxy. Add a shooting star or a constellation or maybe a rocket. You will learn techniques like painting wet on wet, using transparencies, gradients, salt effects and more.
We will be rolling out slabs of clay and cutting them into shapes. We'll use the squares to make a box with cut out hearts. We'll use some circles and more hearts to make a lovely wall hanging sculpture. All work will be painted and glazed.
