Join Rangitoto College as they open their exhibition, He Kฤkano Ahฤu (I am the Seed) this Thursday 14 November from 5pm -7pm within our Main and Hewson galleries.
This exhibition is a celebration of the dedicated exploration of cultural ideas, art approaches and creative techniques across eight Year 11 classes this year at Rangitoto College.
ย The brief was to learn about and connect with cultural symbolism, ideas and styles connected to contemporary local Mฤori artists, and combine this knowledge with their own individual ideas and cultural beliefs to create original artworks, in a range of media. All art students will have at least one completed piece submitted, and we are proud of their efforts to connect with and promote Mฤori and indigenous concepts and values through their art, including whakawhanungatanga,ย kaitiakitanga and tลซrangawaewae.
ย The title โHe Kฤkano Ahฤuโ translates to โI am the Seedโ and we believe this communicates the continued growth of our students as both thoughtful, connected citizens of Aotearoa, and as emerging creative artists. The exhibition will be on view until 23 November.
