I have been oil painting for a long time and was taught by a professional artist when attending university in Seoul, Korea in the 1970s. He helped develop my inner talent and passion for painting.
After immigrating to NZ in 1994, I have enjoyed painting through participating in Mairangi Arts Centre's activities as a member. I am happy to have a regular oil painting class to teach Korean ladies. My painting style is based on realism but somewhat simplified and distorted, using bright, warm colour tones. The main theme of my work is appreciation of the small things in everyday life such as sparrows, weeds and nature. The North Shore Times reported on my artworks and its themes in an article entitled 'Little Bird is a Huge Inspiration to Artist' on 28 May 2013.
